I was introduced to steel at a young age at my Grandpa’s fabrication shop. I used to love climbing around on it when my Dad would bring me along to work on a Saturday or a day off of school. I grew to love the smells and sounds of the shop – but had no idea that it might lead to what has become this great company. When I am not at work – I love spending time with my wife and 4 boys. If I could be anywhere in the world at any given time – it would be at Lake Powell with them. I am extremely proud to be part of Glassey SteelWorks and look forward to incredible experiences every day.
I have been an owner of Glassey SteelWorks since 1999. The first job I did here was the Ogden temple stair install. At that time it was me, Brett, John, and Jeff. I was married to my beautiful wife Kim in 2000, and now have 5 wonderful children. We love to go to Disneyland, Jackson Hole, and Lake Powell on vacations. I am always up for some fun in the sun, and we are starting to get the snow skiing bug also. I went to school to be a pilot, but have found that I love steel much more. Nothing like sitting on the beams while a joist is lowering down in to place, or throwing out a ton of deck. Quite rewarding to go around and show my family all of the buildings we have been involved with.
I started in the steel business in 1964 at my dad’s shop. I have loved this business ever since. There are ups and downs and some really hard things about this business, but I wouldn’t want to work in any other line of work. I have been fortunate to start my own steel business with my oldest son Brett in 1997. My 4 sons have worked with me over the years, 2 of them moved on to different professions. My son’s Brett and Matt now run the business and I help. If I am not at work my wife, Roxy, and I love Lake Powell and always look forward to going there with the whole family, including my 17 grandkids. I also look forward to taking out my side by side on the trails all around..
I have been at GSW since May of 2014. I started out as an intern while I was going to UVU to get a degree in Construction Management. I graduated in May of 2015 and started full time at GSW at the same time. I have been in construction since I was 14 and enjoy the challenges that each new project brings.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 kids. We like to vacation, and we are what some might call “Disney Geeks”. We love all things Disney and try to go as often as we can. I also enjoy spending time in the mountains and playing and watching sports.
I've been with Glassey Steel Works for nearly 15 years. While working with Glassey SteelWorks, I've had the opportunity to work on projects across the western half of the U.S., the Hawaiian Islands, and as far away as Samoa. I love the work and the new friendships that are made along the way. I grew up here in the Salt Lake valley. I'm married with two amazing kids. I love the outdoors, fly fishing, dirt bikes, and street bikes.
I have worked for Glassey SteelWorks since 2016, and love working with the crew here. I love to see the things we fabricate in our shop and then watch as it is installed at the job site. When I’m not working you can usually find me with my family. I’m either coaching my kids in Football, Basketball and Soccer or supporting them on the sidelines. I have a beautiful wife that has been by my side for 16 years. We have been blessed with 2 great boys and a sweet daughter.
I’m April, and I’m very family oriented. My husband, Drew, and I are best friends, each other’s cheerleader, and empty nesters to two handsome boys, who have each married a beautiful and talented girls. The time we are able to spend together as a family is time well spent, and you can guarantee laughing and teasing will take place. As the oldest of 5 children, I have been acting in some sort of “mom” role since I can remember. I’m known as the one who “follows the rules” and I also thrive on being organized. So, it was a perfect fit for me when I was able to join GSW in 2012 as the Administrative Assistant, and then eventually add to that the role of HR. I have always tried to live by my dad’s work ethic - never ask anyone to do anything you’re not willing to do yourself.
I have been working for GSW since November 2015 and I LOVE IT! I just recently got married to Yohanson in 2017, fun fact about our marriage is that we had a traditional ceremony that took place in Malaysia for my husband’s family. We have an adorable puppy named Kylo, she is a chihuahua/shih-Tzu mix and full of energy. When we are not working you can either find us camping or out enjoying the world! I try to live life by these two sayings:
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
Be the attitude you want to be around.
Hi. My name is Shalie Griffiths and I enjoy working for Glassey SteelWorks. I have been with them since 2013. I live in Riverton with my husband, daughter (who was born January 2016), and a 85 pound coon hound. Being a mom and having a job takes up most of my time but when I do have some free time I love spending it outdoors. We love to go to my mother and fathers cabin in Bear Lake year around. I look forward to each new day and all the adventures that it brings.
I have had a love for 3D design for most of my adult life. From Maya to Google Sketchup. My hobbies usually revolved around designing something in a 3D model before I would build a physical prototype. Having a background in Digital Media and running Operations for companies, Glassey was a perfect fit to utilize they things I enjoyed doing. Turning a hobby into a career. Detailing steel structures and finding innovating ways to meet the demands of the company has been challenging but very rewarding.
I just recently came to GSW and Utah in June 2018 after living in California for 42 years. After 31 years in the swimming pool service and repair industry, It was time for a change. I was brought on board to be their first full time safety manager. It’s been an interesting ride so far learning a new industry and working with the good people at GSW. My wife and I have been married for 43 years and have been blessed with 4 wonderful sons and now 4 grandchildren. We are “empty nesters” and our family is spread throughout the country. In the past we have loved to travel especially to Hawaii. Now our destinations are to see our grandchildren on the west and east coasts. When I have time I love to play golf and basketball especially with any of my boys. It’s fun getting to know Utah again since I used to live here for 8 years during junior and high school and a couple years at U. of U. It’s also good to be close to other family members that live here.
